Job summary

Sigma Defense Systems LLC in San Diego, CA seeks a Test Engineer to design and execute test strategies for high-availability networks. You will document defects, perform RCA, and collaborate with systems and cybersecurity engineers to ensure secure operations.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold a Security+ or CISSP and an OS certification; DoD STIGs experience is valuable. A Bachelor's in Engineering is required and a DoD clearance may be sponsored.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in test engineering or equivalent role.
• Experience developing test strategies and test plans for HA network architectures.
• Creation of functional, integration, system, regression, and performance test cases.
• Perform regression testing after network software/firmware/config changes.
• Document defects with reproducible steps, logs, and telemetry.
• Analyze failures and participate in root-cause analysis (RCA).
• Experience with network devices (switches/routers/Wi-Fi controllers/VOIP).
• Experience with hyper-converged infrastructures.

Responsibilities

• Configure, install, and maintain network equipment and services across Navy Enterprise Network architecture.
• Implement, test, and troubleshoot VLANs, routing, IP addressing, and WAN connectivity.
• Integrate external services and validate DoD security standards (STIGs).
• Create and update installation docs, network diagrams, IP schemas, and script configurations.
• Diagnose faults during official and unofficial test events and productions.
• Collaborate with systems, software, and cybersecurity engineers on secure operations.
• Participate in shipboard testing, validation, and documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ Years of experience
• Experience with developing test strategies and test plans for HA network architectures

Mandatory Certifications

Personnel Clearance Level

• Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance or higher

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an Engineering or related field of study.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive)

• Configure, install, and maintain network equipment, software and services across Navy Enterprise Network architecture to include switching, routing, firewall, proxy, wireless, call managers, network access control, voice over IP and network time services
• Implement, test, evaluate, and troubleshoot VLANs, routing protocols, IP addressing plans, and WAN connectivity
• Integrate external services including a wide variety of connected systems
• Apply and validate network-related STIGs in coordination with cybersecurity personnel to ensure compliance with DoD security standards
• Create, Maintain, and update installation documentation, network diagrams, IP schemas, port mappings, and script/configurations for automated installations
• Conduct diagnostics and fault isolation during official and unofficial test events and production installations
• Collaborate with systems, software, and cybersecurity engineers to deliver secure and resilient network operations
• Participate in shipboard testing, validation, and documentation.

Salary Range

$70,000 - $100,000 annually.
