Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Program Manager, a Resident Assistant monitors the activity of Residents in the facility, maintains security and safety, and provides assistance to homeless families to resolve homelessness. Responsibilities include screening shelter calls, receiving donations, engaging volunteers, preparing meals, and making referrals.

Essential Functions
  1. Oversee facility safety and conduct security checks regularly.
  2. Reinforce policies and expectations for residents.
  3. Maintain incident reports and documentation.
  4. Answer and screen calls, transfer to appropriate staff or resources.
  5. Assist visitors and maintain activity logs.
  6. Complete intake forms and update statistical data.
  7. Provide feedback to staff regarding residents' wellbeing.
  8. Assist residents with questions, house duties, and support needs.
  9. Prepare meals and maintain facility cleanliness.
  10. Ensure proper storage of supplies and conduct standard screenings for substance use.
  11. Transfer information to Case Managers timely.
  12. Provide transportation as needed.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and uphold social service ethics.
  14. Perform other duties within scope and various locations.
Working Conditions

Ability to speak, sit, walk, stand, bend, climb, kneel, twist, grasp, reach, handle, finger, push, or pull objects. Lift up to 20 lbs. or more with assistance. Operate a vehicle in various weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or GED.
  2. Experience with recovery or in social/human services for at least one year.
  3. Experience with individuals at various recovery stages and mental health levels.
  4. Conflict de-escalation skills.
  5. Proficiency with office equipment and Microsoft Office preferred.
  6. Ability to pass background check, hold a valid California Driver's License, and pass TSA driving test with a clean MVR.
  7. CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

  1. Handle crisis situations effectively.
  2. Communicate assertively and effectively.
  3. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; capable of emailing, faxing, copying, scanning.
  4. Work professionally with staff, residents, and the public.
  5. Excellent problem-solving skills.
  6. Maintain high ethics and confidentiality.
  7. Complete required trainings within 30 days of hire.
