DC Army National Guard seeks Combat Engineer personnel to design and build bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems, while detecting and neutralizing mines and hazards to protect the team.
You will learn to construct fighting positions, bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions, and to place and detonate explosives. Training includes route clearance and heavy equipment operation, with civilian career paths in construction and engineering possible after service.
Combat Engineers are essential to mission success by assisting their fellow Soldiers in tackling unpredictable environments. Job training requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Your on-the-job training primarily consists of hands-on work in a variety of construction projects.
