Job summary

Spencer-Owen Community Schools is seeking a Nurse Assistant to support McCormick's Creek Elementary School 29 hours per week. You will assist the school nurse with daily health needs of students and staff in a school setting.

The Nurse Assistant will administer basic first aid, help manage health records, support health screenings, and promote a safe, healthy environment for the school community.

Responsibilities

• Assist the school nurse in providing care to students who become ill or injured.
• Administer basic first aid and emergency care following established protocols.
• Help manage chronic health conditions under the guidance of the school nurse.
• Monitor students for illness symptoms and communicate concerns to the nurse.
• Keep the health office clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
• Maintain confidential student health records.
• Document health office visits with symptoms, actions, and outcomes.
• Support routine health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis) and document results.
• Assist in implementing health programs and activities, such as dental clinics.

The Spencer-Owen Community School Corporation is seeking qualified candidates for the position of 29-hour per week Nurse Assistant to work with the students, community and staff supporting McCormick`s Creek Elementary School.

Position Overview

The School Nurse Assistant provides essential support to the school nurse, assisting with the daily health needs of students and staff. This role includes administering basic first aid, managing student health records, supporting the school nurse with routine health screenings, and monitoring students for concerns. The School Health Aide plays a critical role in promoting a safe and healthy environment for all students.

The School Nurse Assistant essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Health Care Support

• Assist the school nurse in providing care to students who become ill or injured during the school day.
• Administer basic first aid and emergency care as needed, following established protocols.
• Assist in the management of chronic health conditions ( e.g., asthma, diabetes) under the guidance of the school nurse.
• Monitor students for symptoms of illness and communicate concerns to the school nurse.
• Ensure that the health office is clean, organized, and fully stocked with necessary supplies.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
• Document student visits to the health office, including symptoms, actions taken, and outcomes.
• Assist with the collection
• Support the school nurse in conducting routine health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) and document results.
• Assist in implementing health programs and activities, such dental clinics or health education initiatives.
