Job summary

Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is seeking a highly skilled full-time Design Engineer to support the development and integration of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for hypersonic vehicles. You will design, analyze, and validate TPS components to ensure optimal thermal performance under extreme hypersonic regimes.

The role requires a Bachelors in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 8+ years in mechanical design, and the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; active clearance preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Experience in the design of thermal protection systems in hypersonic environments.
• Strong familiarity with ASME Y14.5 and the application of GD&T.
• Experience in the use of SolidWorks and PDM.

Responsibilities

• Conduct design and material trade studies, risk identification and mitigation planning.
• Work in a cross functional team to iteratively design elements fulfilling thermal requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation including detailed drawings, analysis reports, presentations, verification artifacts, and data packages.
• Participate in system design reviews to evaluate system effectiveness.
• Up to 10% travel

MSRC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full-time Design Engineer to support the development and integration of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) for hypersonic vehicles within Aviation & Missile Command (AvMC). The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, analyzing, and validating TPS components to ensure optimal thermal performance

under extreme hypersonic regimes. This position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that meet rigorous defense requirements, ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of hypersonic technologies.

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Job Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, active clearance preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint and Teams.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills required.

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design.
• Experience in the design of thermal protection systems in hypersonic environments.

Position is contingent upon contract and funding award.
