Facility in Altoona, Pennsylvania is seeking Physician Assistants (PAs) to cover Emergency Medicine (EM) at night.

1. Coverage Details: Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, approximately 5-6 shifts per month.
2. Estimated Shifts/Month: 6
3. Privileges Available: Temporary privileges.
4. Typical Day for Providers: See patients, perform administrative tasks such as radiology review and blood work review (generally performed by employed staff).
5. Days to Credential: 90 days.
6. Requirements: PAs only.
7. Patient Load: Typically 1-2 patients per hour per provider per shift.
8. Physician Coverage: MD shifts run 3 PM-1 AM, 5 PM-3 AM, and 9 PM-7 AM, ensuring a physician is always present at night.
9. Onsite Specialties: Trauma service and acute care general surgery available 24/7.
10. On-call Specialties: Neurology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology with cath lab, OBGYN, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Plastics, GI, Hematology/Oncology, CT surgery, Intensivist, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Pediatric hospitalist, Podiatry, Thoracic surgery, Vascular. 24/7 crisis counselors in ED for psych evaluations.
11. Patient Demographics: 80% adult, 20% pediatric.
12. Typical Cases: Incisions and Drainages (I&D), laceration repairs. PAs see minor complaints and perform minor procedures like lacerations and I&Ds. They do not perform invasive procedures such as central lines, intubation, or lumbar puncture. Critical patients are managed by attending physicians.

14. Pay Rate: $130 per hour.
