Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks Infantry Soldiers to fill vital ground operations roles. You will learn to attack, defend, and control terrain with advanced weapons and tactics while developing leadership and teamwork in demanding environments.

Training includes Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, with opportunities for tuition assistance, federal and state benefits, and a structured reserve service path that supports civilian careers.

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate.
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconnaissance operations.
• Employ, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
• Operate weapon systems under combat conditions, including night vision sights.
• Operate and maintain communications equipment.
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and combat missions.
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents.
• Aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry.
• Use, maintain, and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, etc.)

Job Duties

• Assist in reconnaissance operations

• Operate and maintain communications equipment
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and combat missions
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents
• Aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry
• Use, maintain, and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines, etc.)

Earn While You Learn

Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. Job training for an Infantryman requires 14 weeks of Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions.
