We are seeking licensed (PE) Mechanical/Electrical Engineers with experience in forensic investigations to determine the cause and origin of site issues, perform root cause analysis, and conduct commissioning and condition assessments related to weather damage on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.

This is a fully remote, part-time, 1099 contracted position with opportunities across all states. Immediate assignments are available in Denver, CO; North Carolina; Houston, TX.

Ideal Candidate Experience:
  • Power surges, lightning strikes, evaluation of electrical components post-fire (wiring, control systems, panels, outlets, appliances/equipment)
  • HVAC systems repair vs. replacement after storm/hail damage, cause of damage (wind/hail), improper maintenance, or installation issues
Responsibilities:
  • Perform engineering failure analysis to determine causes of damage, fire, electrocutions, and equipment failures
  • Conduct site evaluations, field analysis, and assessments of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Provide evaluations and recommendations for failures caused by hail, wind, lightning, maintenance, installation, product defects, freeze events, machinery breakdown, wear and tear, or construction failures
  • Safely access roofs, attics, and crawl spaces to document areas of interest
  • Identify and interview witnesses and involved parties
  • Prepare and submit findings and recommendations for insurance claims or litigation
Qualifications:
  • Active Professional Engineering license(s) required
  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of building materials, codes, construction methods, and failure modes
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform site inspections within 5-7 days
  • Tech-savvy with software tools and investigative techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
