JOB TITLE: 10-Month Custodian
REPORTS TO: Principal
FLSA: Non-Exempt

To provide staff and students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to work and learn.
The custodian should demonstrate the ability to perform the tasks listed. Must complete assigned tasks in accordance with established time and quality control guidelines.

While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to reach, climb, bend, stand, and walk. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders, as well as to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk and hear. The employee must normally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds. The employees will frequently push or pull items such as desks, tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines. The employee should have good color vision, hearing, and speech capabilities.
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
Employment will be on an at-will basis for 10 months, beginning with the first day of the work calendar or at the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated personal leave. Each 10-month custodian will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate. Eight and a half hours (including a 30-minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday for the custodian. A definite daily schedule will be established by the principal and approved by the Assistant Superintendent of Personnel. The yearly salary will be disbursed in nineteen (19) equal payments or twenty-four (24) equal payments per employee’s choice.
The performance of this job will then be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of support staff personnel.
