What You'll Get To Do
  • Conduct Research in Risk-Aware Robotics:
  • Design and conduct state-of-the-art experiments to evaluate and enhance the safety of embodied systems, from small-scale prototypes to large, complex systems
  • Develop and refine research methodologies to ensure experiments are conducted efficiently and yield reliable, actionable insights

  • Optimize Research Workflows:
  • Establish and fine-tune processes that facilitate large-scale, dependable research operations and field tests
  • Implement systems that streamline data collection, analysis, and interpretation, promoting a seamless research environment

  • Develop Supportive Tools and Infrastructure:
  • Create software tools and frameworks that accelerate the pace of research and experimentation
  • Enhance existing infrastructure to assist other teams in transferring research to real-world deployment

  • Disseminate Research Findings:
  • Contribute to the scientific community by publishing research outcomes in reputable journals and presenting at conferences
  • Represent Field AI at industry events, sharing insights and advancements in robot safety
What You Have
  • A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++, along with experience with robotics frameworks like ROS/ROS2
  • Strong understanding of state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms, from training to deployment, and their application in robotics; adept at managing large-scale datasets and optimizing data flow using parallel computing with GPUs and PyTorch
  • Experience with robotics algorithms such as Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), motion planning, task planning, single-agent and multi-agent control, sensor fusion, and obstacle avoidance etc
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
What Will Set You Apart
  • A track record of published research in the field of robotic safety and/or embodied intelligence at venues like RSS, CoRL, ICRA, IROS, ISRR, AAAI, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, AAAI, NeurIPS etc
  • Experience with real-world field testing including building embedded systems and software stacks that utilize multiple sensor modalities like cameras, Lidars, thermal, RGB-D cameras
  • Knowledge of generative AI techniques and their applications in enhancing robotic safety and performance
  • Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring junior researchers or engineers

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, innovative environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Our salary range is generous and we take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary; base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
