Job summary

Jefferson RISE Charter School in Harvey, LA is seeking a patient 1:1 paraprofessional to provide day-to-day support to a designated student, promoting access to learning, routines, and peer engagement. The role involves implementing instructional strategies, monitoring progress, and collaborating with teachers and families.

This full-time, exempt position supports learning across academic, social, and functional settings, with a 10-month schedule and mid/late July to mid/late May work period;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with youth in educational or behavioral support settings
• Proven ability to support student academic growth
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to build rapport and provide calm, professional support
• Maintains composure in high-stress situations
• Commitment to student dignity, privacy, and autonomy

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of classroom activities and instructional plans
• Reinforce academic concepts and skills as directed
• Encourage participation in class, groups, and routines
• Assist with materials and tasks to promote independence
• Provide consistent, individualized support across the school day
• Help student navigate transitions, stay organized, and stay focused
• Support development of social, communication, and self-regulation skills
• Promote engagement and self-advocacy
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, SPED staff, and related service providers
• Communicate regularly with supervising staff about student needs
• Participate in team meetings and trainings
