Job summary

Cleveland Heights University Heights City Schools seeks a 1:1 Paraprofessional for an elementary setting to support students with special needs and assist teachers, counselors and administrators in achieving instructional goals.

The role involves working 1:1 with a student, supporting remedial and enrichment activities, and assisting in an intensive behavior classroom. Ongoing collaboration with school staff is expected, with duties aligned to the school calendar and daily schedule.

Qualifications

• 2 years of college coursework
• OR an Associate's Degree or higher
• OR high school diploma with the passage of the ParaPro Assessment prior to employment
• One year of related successful work experience
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Experience in operating basic office equipment, such as copiers
• Ability to lift equipment, supplies and/or children weighing at least forty (40) pounds
• Physical ability to perform all of the essential functions of the job.
• A valid Educational Aide Permit or license issued by the Ohio Department of Education

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers, counselors and administrators in providing educational services to students with special needs.
• Work will involve assisting a student 1:1 with remedial, enrichment and/or independent living activities as well as supporting instructional and educational goals.
• These positions are in an intensive behavior classroom.
