Qualifications

• Current Kansas practical nursing licensure.
• Minimum of one year health care experience.
• CPR/AED certification.
• Ability to exercise assessment and critical thinking skills in the school setting.
• Maintain confidentiality and use good judgment when handling information.
• Dependable in attendance and observance of duty hours.

Responsibilities

• Assess student health to establish a protocol enabling function at school, home, and community.
• Notify parents/guardians when health problems require professional attention.
• Enforce KDHE immunization requirements and help prevent/ control communicable diseases.
• Administer student medications with proper documentation and weekly counts.
• Provide emergency care for student injuries and illnesses and coordinate with parents/guardians.
• Provide leadership to the health program within the assigned school and coordinate health care referrals.
