Position Overview:

1:1 Special Education assistants will support students who receive special education services. Their schedules will be driven by students’ needs, which are ever-changing. They will work both in and out of the resource/special education classrooms. Duties will include push-in inclusion support, resource room small group/behavior/instructional supports, sensory integration support, and any other special education services needed. They will work under the direction of the teacher or record. Professional development for these IAs will be focused upon topics such as IEPs, behavior plans, related services, teaching support strategies, de-escalation, and other relevant training.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and tutor students with special needs
  • Provide small group one on one instruction to students in need.
  • Respect the individual's right to privacy.
  • Participate in staff development programs.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the building principal.
Qualifications:
  • The preferred candidate will have experience working with students with special needs.
  • The preferred candidate will have a teacher's license.
