Position Overview

We are seeking experienced science tutors to provide one-on-one online instruction to middle school, high school, and college students. As a SiSTEM tutor, you will help students master complex scientific concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare for standardized exams and future careers in STEM fields.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver engaging, personalized online tutoring sessions in science subjects.
2. Develop customized learning plans based on student needs and academic goals.
3. Provide support for science-based standardized test preparation.
4. Track and document student progress.
5. Maintain regular communication with students and the SiSTEM team.
6. Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in a Science field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, etc.) or Education (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
2. Minimum of 2 years of teaching or tutoring experience in any of the following subjects:
   1. High School Science: General Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Anatomy & Physiology.
   2. College-Level Science: Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Immunology, Quantum Mechanics.
3. Test Prep: SAT Science, ACT Science, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, MCAT, PCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE Subject Tests, state teaching exams.
4. Strong digital communication and virtual teaching skills using Zoom or Google Meet.
5. Proficiency with online learning platforms and educational technology.
6. Reliable internet connection and quiet workspace for virtual sessions.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Teaching certification or formal educational training.
2. Experience with online tutoring platforms.
3. Familiarity with hands-on, inquiry-based, or project-based learning approaches.
4. Multilingual capabilities (especially Spanish).
