Job description

The British School of Bucharest is looking for a full-time Learning Support Teaching Assistant in our – Secondary Learning Support Department to provide 1:1 support for a student with functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder within the Special Educational Needs (SEN) department.

The start date for this role is Thursday, 21st August 2025.

The role involves supporting the student within the mainstream classroom and on a one-to-one basis from 8:00 – 16:00, Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be able to provide evidence that there are no obstacles to working with children (ie. Criminal History Report).
  • Be able to work with families and external agencies in devising strategies and plans to support the educational progress of the child
  • Demonstrate an interest in working with students with Special Educational Needs, both in a classroom setting, but also on a 1:1 basis.
  • Have a high level of English language proficiency.
  • Be willing and able to work collaboratively with colleagues to devise and implement an individualised programme for the student.
  • Be sympathetic to working in a multi-cultural and international educational community.
  • Have ideally had some previous experience of working in an educational setting and with children with SEN.
  • Have an outstanding record of attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
  • Have excellent skills in behaviour management.
  • Be able to commit to the post for the full academic year and potentially, beyond.
