Job summary

Stoneham Public Schools in Massachusetts seeks a Part-Time 1:1 Educational Support Staff (ESP) to assist a post-graduate student serving as Football Team Manager. The role focuses on developing independence, organization, communication, problem-solving and workplace readiness in a school-based setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with post-secondary, transition-age, or students with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to the student while he performs responsibilities associated with his role as football team manager.
  • Assist the student in understanding, organizing, and completing assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Support the development of workplace skills, including punctuality, preparation, organization, communication, teamwork, and professional behavior.
  • Provide prompts, modeling, and coaching as needed while systematically encouraging the student to complete tasks as independently as possible.
  • Support the student in communicating effectively with coaches, players, school staff, and other individuals associated with the football program.
  • Assist the student with following schedules, routines, checklists, and procedures related to football team activities.
  • Help the student problem-solve unexpected situations and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Support the student in managing transitions between school, football practices, games, and other team-related activities.
  • Encourage appropriate social interactions and participation as a member of the football program.
  • Assist the student in learning and applying new responsibilities associated with the team manager position.
  • Monitor the student’s progress toward increased independence and provide feedback and encouragement.
  • Collect informal data and documentation regarding the student’s participation, independence, and skill development as appropriate.
  • Communicate regularly with the student’s educational team regarding progress, successes, challenges, and needed supports.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Follow all school and athletic program policies, procedures, and safety expectations.Perform other related duties as assigned.

Part Time - Monday - Thursday 3 - 5 Friday 3 to end of football game

Position Summary

The Educational Support Staff member will provide individualized support to a post‑graduate student as he participates in his role as Team Manager for the football program. The staff member will support the student in developing and maintaining the skills necessary to successfully participate in a school‑based work and community setting, with an emphasis on independence, organization, communication, problem‑solving, and workplace readiness.

The staff member will collaborate with the student, football coaching staff, special education personnel, and other school staff to ensure that appropriate supports are provided while promoting the student’s independence and active participation in the football program.
