Job summary

Advocatesorporated seeks a compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support) to assist a young man with a developmental disability in Rochester, NY. You will help him work toward personal goals at home and in the community, logging notes and supporting daily routines.

Ideal candidates are reliable, patient, creative, and enthusiastic. Prior disability support experience is preferred; training is provided. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 3pm–7pm, with pay shown for direct and indirect support roles.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid email address.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.
• Must demonstrate sound decision-making skills.
• Must understand the Agency mission and support person-centered services.
• Must demonstrate patience and compassion.
• Must read and write instructions and correspondence.
• Must have basic reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
• Background checks required.
• Education & Experience: GED or High School Diploma preferred; related job experience preferred.
• Desired: 1:1 experience in related service environment.
• Knowledge of disability related issues preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with working on goals at home and in the community.
• Support independence and community involvement.
• Log daily times, mileage, and service documentation.
