Job summary

Equitas Academy Charter Schools in Los Angeles, CA seeks a 1:1 Aide to support scholars with IEPs inside and outside the classroom. Responsibilities include wheelchair assistance, feeding, small group instruction, and adaptations under ABA guidelines.

The role requires AA degree (BA preferred), experience with students with disabilities, and current CPR/First Aid. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; criminal clearance and TB test are required. Starting pay $23/hour with full-time benefits.

Qualifications

• AA degree or equivalent required.
• BA degree preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in ABA.
• Criminal clearance, including fingerprints and TB Test.
• Previous experience working with and supervising children.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Current CPR and 1st Aid Certificate within 3 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist scholars who need additional support in and outside the classroom.
• Collaborate with scholars' general education and RSP teacher.
• Facilitate reading intervention, small group instruction and pull out groups.
• Conduct academic assessments.
• Provide instruction in various drills and activities using learning strategies designed to introduce, reinforce, or modify skills.
• Actively participate in professional development aimed at refining both school culture and academics.
• Assist teachers during the school day with instruction, oversight, and supervision of students.
• Follow policies and procedures for health, safety, and nutrition.
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for scholar behavior and enforce Equitas Academy’s positive discipline policies.
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
• May provide adaptive supports with eating and toileting.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The primary role of the 1:1 Aide is to support scholars who need additional support in and outside of the classroom according to their IEP. This could include wheel chair assistance, toileting, lunch/snacks, small group instruction, push-in classroom support, and curriculum modification, etc. The ideal candidate should have experience working with students with disabilities and additional physical support needs.
