Job summary

Berkley Community School seeks a 1.0 FTE Special Education Paraprofessional in Berkley, MA to support instructional activities and assist the teacher in delivering learning experiences.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with motivating students.
• Demonstrate attentiveness to the needs of individual students.
• Provide feedback to teachers on student progress.
• Assist with checking student work.
• Assist with classroom management.
• Assist classroom teacher with planning of instructional activities.
• Assist with supervision and clerical duties as needed.

Position Description: Special Education Paraprofessional at BCS

Position Goal: To assist the teacher in providing learning experiences that will increase the opportunities for learning and improve basic skill levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or its equivalent, AND
• Associates degree (or higher) OR one of the following:
• • Completion of at least two years or 48 credit hours of study at an institution of higher education or,
  • Successful completion of formal assessment measuring knowledge of and ability to assist classroom teachers in reading, writing and mathematics. (Completion of Parapro. &/or other requirements to be deemed highly qualified.)

Organizational Relationships

• Reports to principal or designee and cooperates with supervising teacher.

Performance Responsibilities

Instructional Activities:

• Work with individual/small groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Work with large groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Implement instructional activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist teacher with motivating students.
