Job summary

Fiske Elementary School in Lexington, MA seeks a 1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute Speech Language Pathologist to cover a leave of absence from Oct 29, 2026 through Jan 21, 2027. The role reports to the Building Principal and Director of Special Education, with per diem compensation for days worked.

The SLP will collaborate with teachers, provide therapy to students with diverse speech and language needs, document progress, and contribute to IEP goals and team meetings as required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Communication Disorders, Speech and Language Pathology or related field.
• DESE licensed as Speech Language Pathologist.
• CCC or ASHA certification in progress or pending.

Responsibilities

• Provide speech/language therapy to students as required.
• Schedule students into appropriate instructional groups.
• Deliver therapy in general education and Speech office settings.
• Develop and implement diagnostic evaluations and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to implement services.
• Participate in Team and parent meetings and IEP processes.
• Maintain thorough records of services and goals.
• Assist with mobility, transitions and personal care as needed.
• Other duties as assigned; knowledge of AAC preferred.

Job Description

Position Title: 1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute Speech Language Pathologist

Reports to: Building Principal, Evaluation Team Supervisor and Director of Special Education

Terms of Employment: To cover a leave of absence from approximately October 29, 2026 through January 21, 2027.

$175 per diem for days worked. Non-benefits eligible, at-will position.

Responsibilities

• Supports Instructional programming by providing speech/language therapy to students as required.
• Schedules students into appropriate instructional groups
• Provide therapeutic services in both the general education and Speech office to students with a wide variety of speech and language disorders and student needs
• Performs diagnostic evaluations and implements treatment plans in relation to student needs
• Consults and collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement effective therapy
• Serves as a consultant to school staff members in the development of services
• Participates in Team and parent meetings
• Responsible for goal writing and occasionally serving as liaison for IEPs
• Keep thorough records of the individual student receiving services
• Assists with mobility, transitioning and personal care as needed
• Other duties as assigned
• Knowledge of AAC preferred

Job Qualifications

• Master's degree in Communication Disorders, Speech and Language Pathology or a related field
• DESE licensed as Speech Language Pathologist
• Holds Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) or has completed requirements and application with ASHA is pendin
