Under supervision, maintains school facilities (buildings, grounds, and equipment) in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. Performs minor maintenance on district buildings and equipment. Reports problems requiring repair to the Custodian Supervisor or Lead Custodian. Participates in completing requests for special projects or routine work.

Cleans buildings and equipment according to schedules to ensure a safe environment. Sweeps, mops, dusts, vacuums, removes trash, polishes, washes, waxes, strips, and shampoos floors. Participates in summer cleanup procedures.
Performs minor maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, repairing lockers, desks, chairs, bathroom fixtures, ceiling tiles, and baseboards. Replaces electric sockets and switches as needed.
Ensures buildings, grounds, and equipment are operational and safe. Inspects areas for cleanliness and repairs, and takes actions to deter vandalism.
Secures buildings by locking/unlocking doors, gates, and managing lighting. Clears sidewalks of snow and debris.
Sets up and takes down equipment for events and monitors student behavior. Reports unusual behavior to the principal.
Informs supervisors of supplies needed. Assists in stocking supplies.
May interact with staff, students, or the public. Performs security checks and assists in training substitutes.
Delivers mail and supplies, checks incoming mail, inventories custodial equipment, and assists in repairs.
Schedules bell changes and clock settings. Assists with fire alarm systems and boiler checks. Operates and repairs fans and related equipment.
Performs other custodial duties as directed.
Relevant education, training, or experience demonstrating ability to perform tasks. Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
High School Diploma required.
Must regularly stand, walk, handle objects, speak, and hear. Frequently reach, squat, kneel, and use hand strength. Occasionally sit. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 53 pounds. Push, pull, and operate equipment. Vision abilities include close, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
Applicants must undergo medical and physical fitness evaluations to ensure safety. Conditions include cooperation with evaluations, signing releases, and demonstrating ability to perform essential duties.
