Job summary

Waukegan Steel seeks an experienced Quality Control Manager to lead the company-wide quality program and drive continuous improvement. You will ensure compliance with AISC certifications, welding quality standards, and customer requirements while supporting operational excellence.

Reporting to the President, the role requires strong audit and documentation skills, welder qualification oversight, and collaboration with operations, engineering, and projects teams to sustain top-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of direct experience in a Quality Management role for an AISC-certified fabricator.
• Strong knowledge of AISC certification requirements and audit processes.
• Extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5 code requirements.
• Current CWI or CAWI certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering preferred but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and deadline-driven execution.

Position Summary

Qualifications

• Strong interest and experience in the structural steel fabrication and miscellaneous metals industry.
• Strong knowledge of AISC certification requirements (BU, IBR, FCE, SPE-P2) and the associated audit process.
• Extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.5 code requirements.
• Experience performing welder qualifications and maintaining welding procedures.
• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI) certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering preferred, but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and follow-through.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate priorities, allocate resources, and meet deadlines.
