008 - Quality - Quality Inspector

2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm

Summary

The Quality Inspector ensures acceptable extruded parts and finished products by inspecting and testing to the required standards, drawings, specifications, and process instructions. The inspector will make suggestions and assist the Production Team in identifying issues and preventing recurrence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work procedures
  • Perform dimensional checks on extruded parts at press or finishing department to ensure they are within tolerance per specifications; work with press crew or supervisor in correcting out-of-tolerance situations
  • Verify cut lengths, squareness, and perpendicularity at saw operations
  • Perform etch and swage tests
  • Prepare and maintain quality system records, including inventory status (holds, scrap, etc.)
  • Manage control of non-conforming products, corrective and preventive actions, inspection status
  • Perform pre-stretch as required
  • Check parts being prepared for shipment to ensure proper packaging
  • Prepare or test tensile specimens
  • Support and sustain the plant's 5S system
  • Assist in other functions as needed by shift supervisor or quality manager, as previously trained

  • Read and understand job sheets, work instructions, and route tags
  • Utilize applicable measuring equipment and work instructions effectively
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft 365 applications
  • Ability to work without supervision and perform overtime as required
  • Complete all applicable paperwork associated with this job
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout and other safety procedures related to this role
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Ability to perform basic math operations in all units of measure
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed or uninvolved instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
