Job Description

008 - Quality - Quality Inspector

1st Shift: 7am- 3pm

Summary

The Quality Inspector ensures that extruded parts and finished products meet quality standards by inspecting and testing according to drawings, specifications, and process instructions. The inspector will suggest improvements and assist the Production Team in identifying and preventing issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Follow safe work procedures
  • Perform dimensional checks on extruded parts at press or finishing departments to ensure they are within tolerance; collaborate with press crew or supervisor to correct out-of-tolerance situations
  • Verify cut lengths, squareness, and perpendicularity at saw operations
  • Perform etch and swage tests
  • Maintain quality system records, including inventory status (holds, scrap, etc.)
  • Manage control of non-conforming products, corrective and preventive actions, inspection status
  • Perform pre-stretch as required
  • Check packaging of parts prepared for shipment
  • Prepare or test tensile specimens
  • Support the plant's 5S system
  • Assist in other functions as needed by shift supervisor or quality manager

  • Read and understand job sheets, work instructions, and route tags
  • Utilize measuring equipment and work instructions effectively
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications
  • Work independently and overtime as required
  • Complete all applicable paperwork accurately
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and present information effectively
  • Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure
  • Apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions and solve standardized problems
