Job summary

The City of Bowling Green is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Water Treatment Plant. This hourly, full-time position is represented by the BGEO bargaining unit and requires monitoring, testing, and maintaining water quality and plant systems.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, Chemical Analysis Certification, 3–5 years of related experience, and ideally an Ohio Class I certification (obtainable within three years).

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with Chemical Analysis Certification.
• An Ohio Class I Water Treatment Operator certification is preferred; candidates must obtain certification within three years.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in water treatment or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and oversee plant operations; collect and test water samples; perform laboratory analyses to evaluate water quality.
• Inspect equipment, adjust controls, and record chemical feed amounts and readings.
• Maintain operational records and perform preventive maintenance; assist with training and plant tours.
