Role
A Waiter/ess is responsible for serving guests in a friendly, timely, and efficient manner to deliver an excellent guest and member experience, with extensive knowledge of menu offerings.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the setup of tables and chairs for the next service period.
- Ensure chinaware and cutlery are clean and in good condition.
- Ensure the area is ready for service, clean, and equipped with the right goods.
- Confirm sofas and chairs are clean and drop-free before service.
- Participate in pre-service meetings and pre-service preparations.
- Check for any guest special requests by reviewing reservations and make preparations if required.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with other departments.
- Assist guests with seating and managing bags and coats.
- Present menu and wine to guests; ensure warm bread and olive oil are served.
- Take orders, provide recommendations, and relay orders to related units via Micros System, following up on additions.
- Organize setup according to the nature of the order and assist guests in selecting wine for the meal.
- Recommend and serve starters before the main course; ensure meals and drinks are prepared and carried carefully from kitchen or bar.
- Guide junior team members in training and ensure orders are delivered correctly.
- Provide service presentation to maximize guest satisfaction and proactively respond to guest needs.
- Follow up on empty glasses and china; ensure tables are cleaned and drinks are refilled; ash-trays are emptied as needed.
- Make liqueur and brandy recommendations and finalize dessert and coffee on the check.
- Check that guests have not forgotten anything before leaving and inform the Restaurant Supervisor of guest recommendations for improvements.
