Job summary

Mikrogen Genetic Diagnosis Center is seeking a PhD-level researcher to join the Translational Genomics and Advanced Therapeutic Technologies Leading R&D Laboratory under TÜBİTAK 1515. The role emphasizes functional characterization of variants, disease mechanisms and candidate targets using patient-derived cells and engineered models.

You will design experiments, perform functional assays, and contribute to publications and patentable output in a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• PhD in Molecular Biology and Genetics or closely related field.
• Hands-on experience in functional genomics, molecular biology or cellular assays.
• Experience in genetic variants or disease mechanisms studies.
• Advanced techniques: qPCR, RT-PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, cell culture.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and model development.
• Ability to design experiments, interpret data and troubleshoot workflows.
• Knowledge of gene function, molecular pathways and genotype–phenotype relationships.
• Scientific publication experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and perform functional studies for candidate genetic variants.
• Investigate molecular and cellular consequences of disease variants.
• Develop and apply cell-based functional assays.
• Establish experimental models for rare and genetic diseases.
• Contribute to interpretation and reclassification of variants (VUS).
• Work with patient-derived cells and engineered cellular models.
• Support studies identifying disease mechanisms and targets.
• Design validation strategies with clinical genomics and bioinformatics teams.
• Contribute to national/international R&D projects and publications.
