Overview

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for the position of Technical Officer in Proteomics and Metabolomics Core of the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences (CPOS). This is a full-time, two-year fixed-term appointment with contract-end gratuity and University retirement benefits, and the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. Ref.: 533246. Location: Hong Kong.

CPOS is an academic research-support centre embracing multi-omics and big data biomedical research under the LKS Faculty of Medicine. CPOS core laboratories host state-of-the-art technology platforms supported by over 75 dedicated members. Visit https://cpos.hku.hk to explore more.

Responsibilities
  • Operate sophisticated scientific instruments to support core service and research
  • Liaise with users to coordinate service logistics
  • Provide technical advice to users
  • Evaluate and validate new technologies
  • Support routine operations and assist with maintenance of advanced state-of-the-art equipment (HPLC, GC, QQQ, Q-TOF, Orbitrap, QTRAP, etc.) that facilitate cutting-edge translational research
Qualifications and Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of solid laboratory experience, particularly in core facility settings
  • Strong laboratory skills with a commitment to quality and compliance
  • Hands-on experience in MS-based technologies; strong analytical and problem-solving skills (highly desirable)
  • Enthusiasm for continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in the field
  • Self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, meticulous; ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Competent in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
