Job description

The Opportunity

UserWise is developing a new mobile game based on a globally recognized entertainment IP, combining proven F2P systems with a fresh hybrid-casual approach.

This is a unique opportunity to shape a new game from the earliest concept to launch, working directly with a veteran team that values creativity, iteration, and data-informed design. As one of the first core team members, you'll have high ownership, high visibility, and direct impact on every aspect of the player experience, from the core loop and systems to the emotional beats that define how players engage and return every day.

If you love building from zero, thrive on collaboration, and want to leave your mark on a globally backed new IP, this role gives you the autonomy, creative runway, and purpose-driven impact to do it.

Why Join UserWise
  • Help build a new mobile game from concept to launch, not just maintain one
  • Work on a globally recognized IP with real brand reach and growth potential
  • Collaborate with a veteran‑led studio that prizes creativity, experimentation, and player‑first thinking
  • High ownership, high visibility, and direct influence on how players engage with our product
  • 100% remote, flexible work with a small, passionate, execution‑focused team
  • As we scale post‑MVP, you'll play a key role in shaping our design culture and mentoring future designers
What You'll Do
  • Pipeline and Integration: Act as the primary bridge between the Art and Engineering teams, ensuring the seamless and efficient integration of all art assets, including 2D, 3D, and animation into the Unity game engine
  • Workflow and Tool Development: Architect, document, and maintain the art asset creation and export pipelines. This includes developing custom tools, scripts, and automation to empower artists, streamline repetitive tasks, and ensure consistency from concept to in‑engine delivery across all studio projects
  • Performance Optimization: Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve technical art bottlenecks. Maintain an optimal balance between visual quality and performance across all target mobile devices by performing asset profiling, managing memory budgets, and optimizing material and texture usage
  • Visual Effects (VFX): Design, create, and implement high‑quality, performant visual effects, specializing in complex particle systems, post‑processing, and real‑time effects to enhance the visual fidelity and emotional impact of the player experience
  • Technical Problem Solving: Collaborate across disciplines to troubleshoot and solve complex creative and technical issues. Review and technically vet all art content from various disciplines (3D models, rigs, UI) to ensure they adhere to strict technical standards and budgets before they are integrated into the game
  • Shaders and Materials: Develop and maintain custom shaders, materials, and lighting setups within Unity to achieve the game's unique visual style and meet specific technical requirements
  • Documentation and Standards: Create clear, up‑to‑date documentation on technical art standards, asset creation guides, and best practices for the entire art team to facilitate efficient, scalable production
What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the game development industry
  • Expert proficiency with Unity and its rendering pipelines, including a deep understanding of the engine's profiler, memory management, and build processes
  • Expertise in creating, optimizing, and maintaining real‑time Visual Effects (VFX), with a focus on performant particle systems (e.g., Shuriken, VFX Graph) and complex, stylized effects for mobile devices
  • Strong programming/scripting skills (C#, Python, or similar) for creating editor tools, custom art pipelines, and workflow automation
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing custom shaders (using HLSL/GLSL or visual node‑based editors) that achieve specific visual targets while adhering to strict mobile performance budgets
  • A comprehensive understanding of 3D art content creation tools (e.g., Blender, Maya) and the technical requirements for exporting assets (rigs, meshes, texture maps) into the game engine cleanly
  • In‑depth knowledge of mobile platform constraints (iOS and Android) regarding asset size, texture compression, draw calls, and memory consumption
  • Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to work as a translator and collaborator between technical engineering teams and creative art teams
Benefits
  • Market competitive, tax‑free USD salaries
  • Paid Time Off
  • Performance Bonus
