Project Overview

Nicholas O’Dwyer is providing Technical Assistance and Supervision services for key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Gaziantep, Adıyaman and Kilis provinces in Turkey. The programme includes the design, construction supervision, and operational planning of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network rehabilitation. The work emphasises sustainability, institutional capacity building, and resilience.

Role

Nicholas O\'Dwyer is seeking a Structural Engineer to support the supervision and technical review of reinforced concrete and steel structures associated with water and wastewater infrastructure. This includes treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations, and related civil assets. The role will require coordination with multidisciplinary teams and assurance of compliance with EU and Turkish standards.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • As a Structural Engineer, working in collaboration as part of a larger team is essential for this role.
  • Hold overall responsibility for ensuring structural design elements comply with safety and durability standards for seismic‑prone regions.
  • Take ownership and lead on technical matters related to reinforced concrete, steel structures, and foundation systems.
  • Review contractor design documentation and shop drawings for structural works.
  • Support coordination of design interfaces between structural, architectural, mechanical, and civil disciplines.
  • Maintain regular updates and communicate on project progress, both internally and externally with the client.
  • Support and guide junior engineers and review consultants.
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
  • To reflect the Company’s evolving needs, additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required
  • A 3rd level degree, qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience and a minimum of 3 years in structural design and supervision of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Strong experience in seismic design and performance‑based structural analysis is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS or similar.
  • Experience in EU or other international funded projects.
  • Competent in office packages, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
  • Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary and multi‑cultural team.
