Job summary

Wlgroup is seeking a seasoned defence planning professional for a long‑term engagement in Norfolk, Virginia. The role coordinates exercise priorities with multi‑domain objectives, supports governance, and aligns planning documents with enterprise strategies.

You will develop and document exercise campaign plans, identify capability gaps through scenarios, and contribute to after‑action reviews. Requires a bachelor’s or master’s in a related field, at least five years in exercise planning, and

Qualifications

Bachelor or master's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
At least five years in military exercise planning or defence transformation.
Familiarity with alliance exercise planning processes.
Proven ability to draft planning documents and campaign plans.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
Experience coordinating with multinational partners.
Fluent professional English, spoken and written.

Responsibilities

Carry warfare development priorities into the exercise enterprise.
Support governance, synchronisation and strategic alignment.
Take part in planning conferences and coordination events.
Develop and refine exercise campaign plans and concepts.
Use exercises to identify capability gaps and assess emerging capabilities.
Integrate training innovation lines of effort: realism, new technology, harder scenarios.
Support after-action review and draft reports and recommendations.
Coordinate with other commands, partners and external stakeholders.
