Job summary

AppNation, a fast-growing AI-powered mobile apps company, seeks a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead development of our mobile products. You’ll combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, collaborating with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to build scalable mobile experiences.

You’ll own architecture, drive subscriptions, mentor engineers, and help grow a high-performing mobile team across studios. Relocation support and flexible options are available.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping production mobile apps across iOS and Android.
• Experience with StoreKit and subscription-based apps.
• Ability to design scalable mobile architectures with performance and reliability in mind.
• Hands-on with build pipelines, CI/CD, automated testing, and releases.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the technical direction of our mobile products while staying hands-on with development.
• Work with product managers, mobile engineers, backend engineers, QA engineers, and platform teams to build and improve mobile experiences.
• Make key architecture decisions and establish scalable engineering practices for mobile apps.
• Own the mobile development lifecycle from development and testing to App Store and Google Play releases.
• Build and improve subscription-based mobile experiences using modern iOS/Android technologies.
• Investigate and solve complex product issues to improve performance and user experience.
• Mentor mobile engineers through guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to hiring discussions and help grow the mobile team.
• Improve development processes and tools alongside platform teams.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Staff Mobile Engineer to lead the development of our mobile products, combining hands‑on engineering with technical leadership. You’ll work closely with mobile engineers, engineering leaders, product managers, and cross‑functional teams to build scalable mobile experiences, solve complex technical challenges, and help grow a high‑performing engineering team.

What You’ll Do

• Take ownership of the technical direction of our mobile products while staying hands‑on with development.

• Work closely with product managers across studios, mobile engineers, backend engineers, QA engineers, and platform teams to build and improve mobile experiences.

• Make key architecture decisions and help establish scalable engineering practices across our mobile applications.

• Own the mobile development lifecycle, from development and testing to releases on the App Store and Google Play.

• Build and improve subscription‑based mobile experiences using modern iOS/Android technologies.

• Investigate and solve complex product issues while improving app performance, stability, and user experience.

• Support and mentor mobile engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

• Contribute to technical hiring, performance discussions, and the growth of the mobile team.

• Improve development processes, tools, and workflows in collaboration with platform teams, including our Mobile Core SDK, to help the team build faster and more effectively.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong expertise in native iOS development (Swift) is required. Experience with Flutter and Android development (Kotlin) is a plus. Should be willing to learn Flutter and contribute to Flutter‑based applications when needed.

• Experience building and shipping production mobile applications across the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to App Store releases and ongoing maintenance.

• Strong experience with StoreKit and subscription‑based mobile applications.

• Experience designing scalable mobile architectures with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Hands‑on experience with build pipelines, CI/CD, automated testing, and release management.

• Experience collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams, including Product Managers, Core SDK teams, and other engineering stakeholders.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and contributing to performance management and hiring processes.

• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve complex production issues.

• Excellent communication skills, an ownership mindset, and a passion for building products used by millions.
