The incumbent reports to: OLC UXEX 0010 - Branch Head (IEA) - OF-4
Location: Izmir, Türkiye. The post is within Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) and is focused on Information Environment Assessment (IEA) activities in support of LANDCOM policies, operations and activities.
Responsibilities
- Uses quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate specific narratives and their role in the Information Environment (IE), specifically regarding NATO activities and issues of concern, including audiences of interest to NATO.
- Analyzes and reports on the effectiveness of other actors' information activities, particularly disinformation or propaganda campaigns, on NATO operations and activities.
- Uses historical data to gauge the success of previous hostile information activities, identify Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs), and forecast potential future uses in hostile communications.
- Provides real-time data insights to enable NATO communicators to capitalize on NATO's own communications and mitigate the impact of hostile communications in the IE.
- Provides strategic-level briefs on designated aspects of the IE when required.
- Identifies IE trends and capabilities.
- Produces estimates, special reports, extracts, studies and briefings on the current situation in the Information Environment of LANDCOM’s area of interest.
- Supports ACO's IEA capability development by advising on data integration into existing analysis processes.
- Contributes to the development of military information activities to influence adversaries and other parties in support of mission objectives.
- Supports the Analysis PMESII domains to obtain a comprehensive understanding of how they interact in the engagement space.
- Liaises with G2 to examine adversaries and other actors as complex adaptive systems to assess behaviors, strengths, vulnerabilities and inter-relations.
Special Requirements and Additional Duties
- The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without changes to the contract.
- The incumbent may be required to undertake operation deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and outside NATO's boundaries for up to 183 days in any 18-month period.
- Work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment; Normal Working Conditions apply.
Essential Qualifications
a. Professional/Experience
- Information Warfare: Activities that integrate and optimise information and intelligence, information systems and operations to gain information dominance.
- Experience: Three years in social analysis, Strategic Communications or Information Operations.
- The incumbent must have experience in assessing the media environment including social media.
b. Education/Training
- University Degree and 2 years function-related experience, or Higher Secondary education with advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or accreditation with 4 years post-related experience.

c. Language
- English - SLP 3333 (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing). Note: work is conducted mainly in English.

Desirable Qualifications
- Professional Experience: NATO Tactical PSYOPS Planner (STC-PO-32147), NATO Information Environment Assessment Foundation course (STC-ST-26884), NATO Stratcom Foundation Course (STC-ST-26885), Introduction to NATO Information Environment Assessment (STC-ST-26842).
- Education/Training: NATO-related courses listed (French language capability noted as 3.3.3.3).
- Personal Attributes: Highly motivated and able to manage numerous details, draw trends, and synthesize information.
- Professional Contacts: Interaction with colleagues and with G2 division counterparts.
- Contribution To Objectives: Role supports exploiting information from researchers to inform intelligence, stratcom, psyops, infoops, KLE and public affairs.
