Job Description - Sommelier- Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim (HOT0BUI7)

Location: Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim, Sehit Muhtar, Tarlabasi Blv Beyoglu 34435

What will I be doing?

A Sommelier is responsible for recommending wines and maintaining a thorough and current knowledge of wines to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while assisting with achieving departmental targets.

• Provide professional and current knowledge of wines to guests
• Recommend wines to accompany relevant dishes to guests
• Describe and up-sell wines to provide an excellent customer experience
• Suggest wines to accompany new menus in line with financial budget
• Project a professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service
• Ensure accurate billing
• Serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with licensing/liquor regulations for residents and non-residents
• Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
• Attend training provided by the hotel

To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviors, skills, and values that follow:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the same position (wine waiter/ess or sommelier)
• Native Turkish speaker with strong English communication skills
• Knowledge about good local wines as well as foreign wines; menu creation and stock tracking
• Ability to organize wine events and coordinate workshops and tastings
• Passion and commitment to delivering exceptional levels of guest service
