Kalyon İnşaat is expanding its Corporate Environment and Sustainability Department and is recruiting an experienced Social Performance and Compliance Executive to take an active role in the social performance, international financing and compliance processes of its large-scale infrastructure and construction projects. Although based at the corporate office, the position requires frequent travel and active involvement at project sites. The Social Performance and Compliance Executive will be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle—from initiating social management processes and establishing the required systems and teams for new projects to monitoring social performance during the financing, construction and operational phases.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the social performance start-up activities of new projects and support the establishment of the required management systems, monitoring mechanisms and site organisation.
- Review social impact assessments and social management plans prepared as part of the ESIA process, assess their alignment with project conditions, corporate requirements and applicable international standards, and follow up on required revisions and site implementation.
- Monitor the implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) and Livelihood Restoration Plans (LRP), including entitlements, compensation and additional assistance, resettlement and livelihood restoration measures, to ensure alignment with approved plans and applicable international standards.
- Review RAP and LRP implementation outcomes and household-level progress, identify implementation gaps, follow up on corrective actions, and contribute to independent monitoring and completion audit processes.
- Communicate social commitments arising from ESIAs, ESAPs, financing agreements and lenders’ requirements to project teams and monitor their implementation.
- Coordinate social review, monitoring and audit processes conducted by lenders and Independent Environmental and Social Consultants, and participate in relevant meetings and site visits.
- Monitor the implementation of stakeholder engagement, grievance management, vulnerable group measures, community health and safety, and labour and working conditions requirements.
- Support the establishment of project social performance teams, provide implementation guidance, facilitate the handover of responsibilities and transfer of knowledge, and continue monitoring social performance on behalf of the corporate team until project completion.
- Monitor social performance data and indicators and provide the necessary inputs for management, clients, lenders and corporate sustainability reporting.
- Contribute to the transfer of lessons learned and good practices across the company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sociology or Agricultural Engineering,
- Preferably at least seven years of social performance experience in large-scale infrastructure, transportation or construction projects.
- Experience in undertaking social performance responsibilities on projects financed by international financial institutions.
- Knowledge and practical experience of the IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Performance Requirements and, preferably, the World Bank Environmental and Social Standards.
- Direct field implementation experience in RAPs and/or LRPs, including entitlements, compensation and assistance, economic or physical displacement, resettlement and livelihood restoration processes.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with local communities, public authorities, project teams, lenders and international consultants.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, planning, follow-up and reporting skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel frequently within Türkiye and internationally
