Basic Function and Scope of the Position:

The FAS provides highly visible local partner support, facilitates customer trainings, and provides data analysis, logistical, and troubleshooting support within the CP territories.

The FAS will support the entire Illumina product range with the primary goal of ensuring maximum utilization of Illumina systems and working side by side with our channel partner to increase system pull-through while sustaining customer retention.

This position is based in Istanbul, Turkey, and is responsible for the direction and coordination of application support-related activities of Illumina products in Turkey and neighboring CIS countries. The candidate should be willing to extend support in the Middle East region and serve as a backup for existing ME ILMN resources.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support local partners by coordinating new customer sites, including facility inspections and instrument validation.
  • Arrange customer pilot training on behalf of the Channel Partner, especially for those not yet officially certified or requiring shadowing.
  • Review and approve operational quality of equipment and instruct the local FAS team on correct usage and maintenance.
  • Discuss troubleshooting issues with the local FAS team and provide guidance on biochemistry/assays design, experiment setup, software usage, and instrument handling.
  • Establish close connections with the partner FAS team and address any competency gaps with the Channel Partner management.
  • Support key accounts and strategic Channel Partner sales through technical presentations and demonstrations.
  • Develop and improve key company processes such as case logging, documentation, and reporting to support our mission of building a world-class customer support organization.

Preferred Educational Background:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Genetics, or M.S. with relevant experience.

Preferred Experiential Background:

  • Significant biotech experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Strong understanding of genomics, sequencing applications, and methods related to Illumina technology.
  • Experience supporting customers in a highly technical field required.
  • Experience with Genotyping and Sequencing technologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of Genotyping data analysis software and Bioinformatics tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in general lab practices and Molecular Biology techniques.
  • Experience with instrumentation like liquid handling robotics and optical scanners preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and account management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and training skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
