Job summary

WLG is seeking a hands-on capability development specialist for a long-term engagement in Norfolk, VA. You will rapidly prototype digital workflows, work directly with process owners and users, and document current and target processes to enable clear demonstrations and pilots.

The role requires a university degree or equivalent, recent hands-on delivery of digital applications, and at least twelve months of personal development work within the last two years.

Qualifications

• Recent hands-on delivery of digital applications, workflows or prototypes that you built personally.
• At least twelve months inside the last twenty-four spent doing that development yourself.
• Hands-on development across at least two distinct rapid-development platforms.
• Two of the last five years in low-code, no-code or configurable app development, with at least two solutions you built yourself and at least one with real users.

Responsibilities

• Rapid hands-on development of digital workflow prototypes and pilots on approved platforms.
• Work directly with process owners and operational users to understand current workflows.
• Document current and desired workflow in detail showing roles, states, decisions and exchanges.
• Turn operational needs into viable prototypes for building, demonstration and iteration.
• Design and configure structured data capture, roles, states, rules, validation, routing and status tracking.
• Integrate prototypes with approved data sources via interfaces, databases, or file exchange.
• Write lightweight scripts or components when tooling isn’t enough to prove the idea.
• Use AI-assisted development tooling to speed prototyping where appropriate.
• Run user testing and pilots and improve based on observations.
• Measure impact against baseline: cycle time, manual effort, data completeness.
• Identify security, data management, licensing, hosting and sustainment constraints early.
