Job summary

BGTS International is seeking a QA Engineer to own manual testing with a focus on backend services and APIs. You will collaborate with development and product teams to ensure reliability, functionality, and quality of backend applications and integrations.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in Software Quality Assurance, hands-on API testing, SQL validation, and experience with defect management. Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD is a plus for enhancing existing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Software Quality Assurance with a focus on manual testing.
• Strong understanding of backend testing approaches and the STLC.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful and SOAP API testing using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or similar.
• Experience validating API responses, business logic, data consistency, and service integrations.
• Good knowledge of SQL and database concepts, with experience in Oracle, MongoDB, or similar.
• Experience creating and executing detailed test scenarios and test cases.
• Experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM/Quality Center, TestRail.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and software development processes.

Responsibilities

• Create, execute, and maintain manual test scenarios and test cases for backend services and APIs.
• Verify business processes through backend testing, API integrations, and database validation.
• Review functional requirements and determine appropriate test coverage for new features and enhancements.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and smoke testing.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and follow up on software defects throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with developers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, and other QA Engineers to ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Support release testing and production verification activities when required.
• Take part in root cause analysis and contribute to initiatives aimed at continuously improving software quality.
• Support the maintenance and gradual enhancement of existing automation frameworks where applicable.
• Promote and follow established QA standards and testing best practices across projects.

About the Role

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our client's team and take ownership of manual testing activities, with a particular focus on backend services and APIs. In this role, you will work closely with development and product teams to ensure the reliability, functionality, and overall quality of backend applications and integrations.

The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience in manual testing, API and database testing, and defect management. While manual testing will be the main focus, familiarity with test automation, programming, and CI/CD practices will be considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps or GitLab is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.
• Self-motivated, willing to learn, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
