Job summary

Nutreco is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support production by performing electrical and mechanical maintenance, inspections, and repairs. The role focuses on preventive and corrective work to keep production running safely and efficiently.

The technician will diagnose faults, execute emergency repairs, supervise third-party technicians when needed, and document activities in maintenance systems to ensure traceability and compliance with safety standards.

• Inspections and preventive / planned maintenance: Checks and assesses the condition of handling equipment, pneumatic and/or mechanical/electrical, reception and silo installations, grinding, mixing and pressing lines, bag filling, feed and / or fertilizer, bulk loading and weighbridges, on the basis of maintenance schedules / checklists.
• Restores (imminent) defects and performs corrective maintenance activities arising from inspections (according to schedule)
• Signals to the superior (potential) flaws with details of the nature and severity, proposes solutions to avoid (future or recurring) problems with the functioning of (parts) of equipment / machinery / transport systems.
• Orders / polls spare parts and materials for maintenance
• Works on planned maintenance activities of more extensive and / or complex nature (i.e. during maintenance stops), and may supervise technicians of third parties.
• Troubleshoots malfunctions and defect in equipment, machinery, measuring and control systems and other parts of the installation
• Assesses the nature and extent of the problem and determines whether instantly repair is necessary or possible, assesses any fault causes and potential solutions
• Performs emergency repairs, disassembles (parts of) equipment / machinery and makes necessary repairs / changes to the equipment, if necessary in consultation with the supervisor
• Carries out modifications and overhaul work based on work orders and / or instructions from supervisor
• Proposals improvements in equipment, machinery and other areas based on expertise and experience in maintenance
• Consults with management on quality issues, technical issues / problems, etc.
• Orders to (re) making certain components from drawings
• May performs various techniques (welding, lathe and plate work, machining)
• Logs all maintenance activities in the appropriate maintenance management systems in order to have a complete administration and insight in the state and history of all equipment, files all technical data
• Works in compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures (work permits, LoTo, etc.), as well as technical standards
• Signals potential hazardous and / or unsafe situations, takes appropriate action is case of imminent unsafe situations

Job description

The Maintenance Technician carries out maintenance and repair work to electrical or/and mechanical installations or equipment (such as production machinery, rotating equipment, electrical installations, transport systems, buildings, facilities and constructions), so that technical assignments are carried out on time, safely and according to specifications in order to support the optimal running of production The Maintenance Technician operates within a production / technical department, with a focus on execution of preventive and corrective maintenance. The main purpose of the job of a Maintenance Technician is to prevent any malfunction of the equipment, apparatus, machinery or systems that are used in the production process. The Maintenance Technician may also support other facilities than production, such as R&D laboratories, office facilities as well as technical buildings (utilities) and systems for logistics and storage. The job takes care of any trouble shooting in order to keep to production process running, and carries out tasks to prevent future disturbances. The job may be limited to one single technical discipline (such as construction, mechanical, rotating, electrical), or may be more skilled so that apart from one major technical discipline, the Maintenance Technician is able to deal with issues in related technical areas. Depending on the size of the facility, the number of Maintenance Technicians may vary in technical disciplines and expertise levels. At the highest job level, the “all round” Maintenance Technician is capable of dealing with any of the issues that might occur, troubleshooting and solving technical issues in an expert role.
