Job summary

Vanderlande is seeking a Low Level Control Engineer to join the Istanbul Airport baggage handling automation team. You will analyze PLC and baggage flow performance, create shift reports, and coordinate with maintenance and service desks to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics engineering or similar.
  • Understandings of PLC, SCADA (WinCC), industrial networking systems including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, AS-I Network and PLC communications, experience in programming Siemens PLCs.
  • Understanding of SQL databases and reporting, as well as the diverse IT components (preferable).
  • ITIL Foundation knowledge (preferable).
  • Certification on one or more items (preferable).
  • 1–3 years of experience in above items, as well as automated material handling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing & reporting system performance (PLCs and baggage flow) and undefined system phenomena.
  • Creating shift reports and coordinating with maintenance/SCADA; open tickets as needed.
  • Executing lifecycle of open tickets locally or via global service desk.
  • Proper reporting between shifts and communications with stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and filtering events that could be incidents.
  • Working on priority incidents and resolving within SLA.
  • Delivering preventive maintenance tasks and change tasks (backups, patches).
  • Creating or updating manuals, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Performance analysis on tickets and reviews with Functional Managers.
  • Updating processes per change management to improve efficiency.
  • Studying product line developments and updating the Synergy database.

Low Level Control Engineer (Controls & Automation)

Istanbul Airport – Istanbul, Turkey

Your responsibilities
  • Analyzing & reporting of the system performance (PLCs and baggage flow), and undefined behavior and phenomena of the system, as well as the functional reports and specific flow situations

  • Creating shift reports and raising any problems in the automation system of the baggage flow line and debugging; coordinating with maintenance / SCADA team or open a ticket as needed

  • Executing the lifecycle of open tickets locally or through global service desk

  • Proper reporting between shifts and communicating with the stakeholders

  • Analyzing and filtering events which are potential incidents

  • Working on priority 1 and 2 incidents when escalated, resolving them within SLA

  • Delivering the preventive maintenance tasks & assigned change tasks (back-ups, patch execution, etc.)

  • Creating documentation such as manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and work instructions

  • Performance analysis on the tickets and performance review with Functional Managers.

  • Creating new or updating the existing processes according the change management process to increase the efficiency

  • Studying developments on product lines, working with the latest and current firmware updates of the products managed by the LLC team, and updating the information in the Synergy database

Your qualifications and skills

As an enthusiastic low-level control engineer you have the following skills:

  • Initiator and follower on engineering solutions

  • A clear communicator, able to communicate at all levels, able to provide clear and concise information to stakeholders and management

  • Team player and adaptable personality, willing to broaden skills outside core skillset and develops / mentors other team members

  • Proactive (focus on service improvements)

  • Eager to learn. Have the ability to dig into technical problems in its own areas, at the same time to maintain the overview on the system, software, and system behavior

  • Have very good analytical skills and able to think “out-of-the-box”

  • Ability to work under pressure on mission-critical systems

  • Good attention to detail and ability to work to a high standard

  • Good scheduler and performer in highly planned task regime

  • Able and willing to work in shifts

You should also have:
  • a bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics engineering or similar

  • understandings on PLC, SCADA (WinCC), industrial networking systems including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, AS-I Network and PLC communications, experience in programming Siemens PLC’s

  • understanding of SQL databases and reporting, as well as the diverse IT components (preferable)

  • ITIL Foundation knowledge (preferable)

  • certification on one or more of the above items (preferable)

  • 1-3 years of experience on one or more of the above items, as well as automated material handling systems

  • ability to create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings

  • excellent communication skills, writing and speaking, in the Turkish and the English language

  • residency in Istanbul or willing to move there, within commuting distance of the new airport
