Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Data Integration Engineer to lead a data solutions team and architect complex, enterprise-grade data pipelines. You will guide 5+ engineers, shape cloud-native and hybrid architectures, and promote best practices in data security and scalability.

The role requires deep expertise in ETL, orchestration tools, and modern software development practices, with a focus on delivering robust pipelines and actionable data assets for enterprise clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data management, database design, migration, storage, and advanced data modeling.
• Experience leading and mentoring data engineering teams (4–7 engineers preferred).
• Hands-on with Talend, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, GCP Dataflow or Apache NiFi.
• Strong orchestration and scheduling experience (Apache Airflow/Astronomer).
• Coding skills in SQL, Python (PySpark, Pandas), Scala, SparkSQL, or Bash.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of data integration and ETL engineers, manage sprint planning, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Conduct regular code reviews and set up testing frameworks for compliant, high-performing, secure code (SQL, Python, Scala).
• Promote modern software practices (CI/CD, Git, modular design, automated alerting).
• Architect end-to-end data pipelines using serverless or hybrid setups.
• Establish robust scheduling/orchestration with Airflow or cloud schedulers for high reliability (>99.5%).
• Model and maintain scalable data systems (OLAP/OLTP, Star/Snowflake, Data Lakes/Lakehouses/Data Meshes).
• Implement ingestion patterns, CDC, micro-batching, delta extracts, and partition maintenance.
• Translate requirements into detailed technical specs and data-flow diagrams with stakeholders.
• Present architectures to C-level executives highlighting ROI and performance gains.
