Manage the adequacy between Demand (Firm & Forecast) and Resources (Manufacturing & Procurement) to reach customers QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) and projects timescales while optimising site resources (people, machines & cash).

Note: the scope of work / accountability depends on the typology of the site to which the Industrial Planner belongs.

Responsibilities

Frequency: Quarterly

  • Collaborate to the quarterly S&OP:
    • Build the industrial planning for opportunities in coherency with inputs from tender team, project team, site strategic plan and firm projects already in the portfolio
    • Perform operations workload versus workforce analysis and analyze bottlenecks (site capacity)
    • Provide output to central S&OP team for global consolidation

Frequency: Monthly

  • Ensure that S&OP instance decisions are reflected as input into Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP)
  • Participate in the SIOP cycle by doing the appropriate simulations and propose feasible scenarios to support decisions to be taken (with internal and/or external solutions)
  • Ensure that SIOP instance decisions are reflected into MPS and/or Material Delivery Plan and cascade through the organization with appropriate communication to internal / external suppliers
  • Support stakeholders (i.e. Product Manager, Obsolescence Manager & Catalogue Managers) in production volumes analysis / consolidation
  • Report the Work In Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) for Hard Inventory (HI) consolidation in time
  • Report the Manufacturing Throughput and Production Performance KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) in time
  • Ensure that all KPIs are calculated according to the standard rules

Frequency: Weekly to Monthly

  • Build the production plan taking into account availability of Material, Men, Machine (3M approach)
  • Get commitment on the hypothesis taken from all stakeholders
  • Resource Management:
    • Calculate manufacturing and testing workload inside the Planning Tool / ERP
    • Identify the quantity of resources (not nominatively) needed per workshop, metier, skills
    • Share results for monthly meeting
    • Manage resources with industrial team and HR

Frequency: Weekly to Monthly

  • Bottleneck analysis:
    • Identify the bottlenecks as well as all other possible risks on the production plan
    • Alert Industrial Planning manager and PrPM / SSM of the projects involved each time maximum capacity is reached
    • Propose scenarios to secure and/or recover production plan (internal and/or external solutions)

Frequency: Daily

  • Monitor production plan adherence
  • Analyze the root causes of delay of the production plan (using 5-Why method) and their impact (including on other projects in case of multi project line)
  • Participate in alignment meetings with industrial teams (Manufacturing / Testing / Supply Chain)
  • Contribute to escalation process in case of non-adherence

Guarantee that the data inside the ERP / Core Planning Tool are the latest update

Update industrial planning into the Planning Tool / ERP each time there is a change validated by all stakeholders

Update weekly the actual dates and communicate internally on the production plan status through a cockpit (tables, graphs, …)

Prepare and participate in site planning instances / meetings

In case of particular event (strike, pandemic, supplier crisis, etc.):

  • Evaluate impact by doing simulation to be validated in the appropriate instance
  • After decision is taken, update industrial planning into the Planning Tool / ERP

In case of validated major change:

Prepare communication pack for SCM (Supply Chain Management) and Procurement (to be sent to internal and external suppliers)

Main Required Competences

Mandatory:

  • Graduated from university or engineering school (Master’s degree)
  • Experience in supply chain or in planning
  • Good knowledge of Core Planning Tool, ERP and Excel
  • Good level of English
  • Good Communication and collaborative skills
  • Innovative, pro-active and positive
