Topre America, a Tier 1 automotive supplier located in Smyrna, TN, is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Industrial Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving manufacturing processes and product design through the application of advanced engineering principles and techniques. Job Duties
- Creation of plant layout drawings using CAD software to incorporate facility, equipment, inventory, and support areas for future model planning.
- Study existing facilities and develop plans to optimize material flow. Propose and secure approval for new standards as needed for facility layouts.
- Study material flow into and out of all manufacturing processes and lead cross-functional meetings to develop and secure approval for layouts from production and management teams.
- Identify storage locations for finished goods, purchased parts, work-in-process parts, blanks, coils, fixtures, and dies for current and new model programs. Maintain database location information in IT systems to ensure internal labeling system accuracy and document all changes using company processes.
- Monitor scanning system to ensure 100% scanning is achievable throughout the production floor.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to understand operations and develop solutions to meet quality, delivery, and cost goals.
- Drive projects to increase productivity, reduce lead time, improve quality, and achieve cost savings using various Lean tools and Six Sigma methods.
- Identify manufacturing capabilities and limitations; calculate production capacity and coordinate as needed with the production control team.
- Improve labor productivity through the development and deployment of best-known methods and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Assist the accounting department with the analysis of production-related cost variances as needed.
- Develop and maintain budgets to ensure projects are completed with optimal financial gain without compromising safety.
- Ensure the plant environment is safe and OSHA standards are followed.
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or related field.
Experience
- Proficient in CAD and capable of reading and understanding blueprints.
- Strong competency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of value stream analysis and process flow diagram development.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based on data.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures, and material flow in manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of material flow optimization and lean manufacturing principles.

- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, across all levels of management and functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Occasional travel to support onsite facilities.
- Capable of handling physical demands such as long standing and load handling.
