Job summary

PepsiCo is seeking an R&D Associate Process Engineer to lead deployment projects across Europe Foods. The role spans Snacks and Grains, coordinating process tech, equipment, and validation plans for successful commercialisation.

You will drive risk assessments, pilot trials, DOE studies, and collaboration with Food Safety, Quality, and supply chain teams to deliver high-quality products while supporting Pep+ initiatives. Travel across Europe (~25–30%) is expected.

Qualifications

• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, Food Science, or a related discipline.
• 3–4 years' experience in process engineering or product/process development in Food & Beverage.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, apply statistical methods, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Experience developing, scaling, and commercialising new products, processes, or equipment in cross-functional environments.
• Ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and perform in fast-paced environments.
• Experience in a Technical Stage-Gate development framework is preferred.
• Willingness to travel across Europe and internationally (approx. 25–30%).

Responsibilities

• Lead process and equipment risk assessments to evaluate capability of new technologies to deliver target designs.
• Drive development, testing, qualification, and commercialization of process systems and equipment.
• Lead pilot plant and scale-up trials with data collection, analysis, and timely communication of results.
• Collaborate with Food Safety and Quality teams to ensure safe, high-quality products.
• Design and execute DOE to screen, model, validate, and optimize process performance.
• Develop and maintain a Europe Foods process knowledge map of assets and capabilities.
• Identify gaps and propose corrective actions, including training and capability-building.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across functions.
