About the Role
We're looking for an ESG & Carbon Specialist to lead end-to-end client engagement with organizations seeking to embed sustainability into their operations and business strategy. This is a hybrid role bridging business development and project delivery. You'll identify opportunities, build long-term client relationships, and directly shape how we design and deliver carbon and ESG solutions.
You’ll work at the intersection of commercial growth and technical execution, translating client challenges into tailored carbon accounting, emission reduction, and ESG reporting solutions. Based in Ankara and covering Türkiye and the wider MENA region, you’ll become a trusted advisor to corporate and institutional clients navigating decarbonization and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do?
Business Development & Client Strategy:
- Identify and qualify ESG and carbon market opportunities across manufacturing, financial services, and heavy industry
- Develop and pitch integrated carbon and ESG service packages, from GHG accounting through sustainability reporting to carbon finance advisory
- Build long-term strategic relationships with sustainability directors, CFOs, and board-level decision-makers
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation and discovery workshops through contract closure and project initiation
Project Development & Implementation:
- Own the handoff from sales to delivery, translatingclient briefs into technical project plans
- Lead data collection, stakeholder engagement, and materiality workshops for ESG and GHG accounting projects
- Lead Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG inventory projects aligned with the GHG Protocol and ISO14064
- Coordinate ESG reporting and disclosure readiness projects (GRI, CSRD/ESRS, TSRS, SASB, IFRS S1/S2, CDP, TCFD, TNFD) and carbon project validation, verification, and registration documentation under Verra (VCS), Gold Standard, and Article 6 mechanisms
- Track project timelines, deliverables, and quality assurance; communicate progress to clients and internal teams
Market & Relationship Development:
- Monitor regulatory shifts (CBAM, EUDR, sustainable finance taxonomies, Türkiye's sustainability reporting requirements) and translate them into service opportunities
- Represent Climate Balanced at industry events, roundtables, and sustainability forums
- Build partnerships with corporates, financial institutions, government agencies, and development finance institutions
- Contribute to thought leadership through case studies, market insights, and proposal input
- Conduct win/loss analyses and gather market feedback to inform service development
Who Are We Looking For?
Experience & Background:
- Experience in sustainability consulting, ESG advisory, carbon markets, or climate-related roles
- Proven track record in both client-facing business development and project delivery
- Hands-on experience with at least two of the following: GHG accounting, ESG reporting frameworks, or carbon project development
- Degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, economics, or business, with demonstrated climate/ESG domain expertise
- Experience in Türkiye or the MENA region is highly valued; understanding of local regulatory and corporate landscapes is essential

- Full professional fluency in English and Turkish (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical and communication skills.you translate technical complexity into compelling client value propositions
- Able to bridge commercial and technical worlds, and equally at ease presenting to C-level and technical teams

- Genuinely curious about climate solutions, regulatory trends, and emerging carbon finance mechanisms
- Able to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines in parallel
Practical Requirement:
- Based in Ankara or acceptance for relocation to Ankara, Türkiye, with the right to work in Türkiye
- Willingness to travel regionally (Türkiye, MENA, occasionally Europe)
- Valid passport and ability to travel restrictions
- Preferred availability to start within 4 weeks
Nice to Have:
- Certification in ESG, sustainability, or carbon accounting (e.g., GRI-certified Sustainability Professional, ISO 14064 verification training, , or similar)
- Track record of developing and closing high-value sustainability consulting contracts
- Experience with carbon credit project development, validation, or verification
- Working knowledge of Türkiye’s corporate law, environmental regulations, and evolving ESG regulatory agenda
- Financial modeling skills for carbon or energy projects economics; familiarity with carbon credit trading or carbon finance structures
