Job summary

Canonical's Device Delivery Team is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead a software engineering group delivering OEM enablement projects. The role requires deep Linux knowledge, low-level debugging, and strong management skills in a fast-paced, globally distributed environment.

Travel to EU/USA/China/Taiwan may be required after restrictions lift. A Bachelor’s in STEM and Linux/Ubuntu experience are essential, along with strong English and Chinese communication skills.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in STEM, preferably computer science or software engineering.
• Proven track record in technical roles with Linux, preferably Ubuntu or Debian.
• Commitment to development and testing methodologies, and maintainable code quality.
• Experience with management responsibilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation.
• Strong English and Chinese language communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, mentor, and enable your team to deliver quality OEM enablement projects.
• Set goals with the team; prioritize tasks and measure team health indicators.
• Maximise team members' results and support their career growth.
• Coordinate with project managers, QA, and certification management.
• Monitor projects from kickoff to post-mortem and handle escalations.
• Communicate and resolve technical challenges with OEMs, ODMs, SiPs, IHVs.
