Reporting to the Laboratory Manager and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, this role requires a deliberate effort to ensure smooth day-to-day laboratory operations by planning workload, minimizing disruptions, ensuring compliance with protocols, and supporting technicians in their work.
Job Description
- Ensure the laboratory operates efficiently by preparing an internal work program, prioritizing technician tasks, and overseeing workflow.
- Participate in the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and verify applications are fully compliant with SOPs, protocols, and the quality management system.
- Establish and implement mechanisms to check the functioning of laboratory equipment, ensure proper use, prevent or detect malfunctions, and plan maintenance.
- Coordinate needs assessment and purchasing processes for laboratory equipment, supplies, and inventory.
- Contribute to staff development by supervising, delivering technical and scientific training/presentations, and implementing in-company learning programs.
- Ensure activities comply with the Veterinary Diagnostic and Analysis Laboratories Regulation and assist in maintaining the laboratory protocol book according to established procedures.
- Implement the quality management system effectively across all laboratory units in coordination with the quality manager and relevant department heads.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and contribute to implementing necessary precautions.
- Support business model decisions by excluding tests and including analyses outside the scope of accreditation, in collaboration with the quality manager, while identifying new analyses and developing procedures to enhance testing capacity.
- Evaluate, control, and review test results for compliance.
- Manage activities in the molecular, bacteriology, and serology units, collaborating within the overall workflow to improve processes.
- In the absence of the Laboratory Manager, assume managerial responsibilities to ensure proper laboratory management according to rules and regulations.
- Prepare and submit monthly activity reports to relevant departments.
Specific Experience
- Graduate from a university's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
- Possession of a veterinary specialization diploma or a doctoral-level academic career.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a microbiology laboratory.
- Experience in molecular techniques is a plus.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of the poultry industry is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard is a plus.
