Role Overview:
We’re looking for a hands‑on Drone Design Engineer to design, prototype, assemble, and test mechanical components for our autonomous delivery drones.
You will work across the full product‑development cycle, turning concepts into detailed SolidWorks models, producing parts using 3D printing and other manufacturing methods, assembling physical prototypes, and improving designs based on real‑world testing.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both CAD design and practical workshop work and wants to see their designs become real flying hardware.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies for autonomous delivery drones
- Create detailed 3D models and technical drawings in SolidWorks
- Design airframe components, mounts, enclosures, payload mechanisms, flaps, and propulsion‑system interfaces
- Produce prototypes using FDM and resin 3D printing, CNC machining, composites, and other fabrication methods
- Assemble, modify, repair, and test physical drone prototypes
- Select suitable materials, fasteners, bearings, adhesives, and manufacturing processes
- Improve designs for weight, strength, stiffness, manufacturability, and ease of assembly
- Investigate mechanical failures and rapidly redesign components
- Work closely with propulsion, electronics, embedded-software, and flight‑control engineers
- Maintain and improve CAD assemblies, drawings, and mechanical documentation
- Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or a related technical field
- Strong SolidWorks or equivalent CAD skills
- Experience designing parts that have been physically manufactured and assembled
- Familiarity with FDM or resin 3D printing and rapid prototyping
- Comfortable using workshop tools such as drills, Dremels, saws, adhesives, and hand tools
- Good understanding of mechanical design, materials, tolerances, fasteners, and manufacturing methods
- Experience with drones, robotics, lightweight structures, composites, or aerospace systems is a plus
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a practical, hands‑on approach
- Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Design, build, and test real flying hardware
- Work with an exceptionally talented team
- Work on cutting edge drone & AI technology
- Take ownership of projects from CAD model to physical prototype
