Job summary

92NY School Engagement in the Arts seeks experienced dance educators to lead Discover Dance residencies in NYC public schools. Through movement, choreography, creative exploration, and performance, students build confidence, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and an appreciation for dance as an expressive art form.

Candidates should be comfortable adapting instruction for students with a wide range of learning needs in collaboration with classroom teachers and school staff, with

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Dance, Dance Education, Performing Arts, Education, or related field, or equivalent professional training.
• Professional experience and expertise in dance education, with proficiency in multiple dance styles (Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Hip-Hop, Jazz, etc.).
• 3+ years of teaching experience in school, community, or youth education settings.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead weekly Discover Dance residency sessions in NYC public schools.
• Teach grade-appropriate dance lessons through movement, choreography, and dance appreciation.
• Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs in collaboration with teachers and staff.
• Prepare students for live performances and facilitate pre/post-performance learning experiences.
• Maintain documentation and communicate with 92NY staff and school partners.
